Welcome Sang Lee, WWF’s New Regional Director

Sang Lee Joins WWF as Regional Director, Inspiring Collaboration for a Sustainable Future in Southeast Asia.

WWF Thailand is delighted to welcome Sang Lee as our new Regional Director. We are thrilled to have her leadership and vision guiding our collective efforts and look forward to collaborating closely with her to enhance conservation impact and create lasting positive change for both people and nature across the region.

During her week-long visit to the Thailand office, Sang received a warm welcome from staff and took the opportunity to connect with team members, gain insights into ongoing projects, and better understand the realities of on-the-ground conservation work. Her visit underscored the importance of collaboration, communication, and shared vision in driving meaningful environmental impact.

As part of her field engagements, Sang toured wildlife conservation sites within the Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex, including Kuiburi National Park, where WWF Thailand works to restore habitats and foster human–wildlife coexistence through community-led eco-tourism initiatives, such as wildlife safaris. She also joined local communities in crafting sustainable handicrafts from natural materials — including soil-dyed textiles and paper made from pineapple leaves — gaining firsthand experience of how conservation, community development, and sustainable livelihoods are deeply interconnected.

Beyond field activities, Sang met with key government partners, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning (ONEP), Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), and Royal Forest Department (RFD). This meeting reaffirmed WWF Thailand’s commitment to working hand in hand with government agencies to strengthen programmes that protect biodiversity and safeguard Thailand’s natural heritage.

Sang’s visit reflects WWF Thailand’s mission to combine strong leadership, innovation, and collaboration to address the region’s most pressing environmental challenges. We warmly welcome her once again and look forward to achieving even greater conservation milestones together — for a healthier, more sustainable future for people and nature alike.
