The conflict between humans and elephants is intensifying, leading to the loss of life for both elephants and people. A major cause of this issue is the decline in natural habitats due to past habitat loss. The continuity of forest areas has been disrupted by land-use changes for agriculture and the establishment of communities near forest edges and valleys, which are rich in food and water sources. Additionally, climate change has reduced the fertility of the forests that elephants inhabit.

In response, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation has collaborated with True Move H Universal Communication Co., Ltd., and Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex Wildlife Conservation Project to apply communications technology. This includes the use of camera traps and the development of a real-time early warning system for computers and smartphones. These efforts aim to enhance the efficiency of monitoring and response to elephants as they leave protected areas.
