On December 20, 2024, at the Lan Tor Suk area (beside Huan Hang Tor coffee shop) Nan Province, Deputy Governor of Nan Province, Ms. Wajiraporn Amatayakul, presided over the opening ceremony of the event “From Farm to Table: Experiencing Food Culture and Organic Agriculture from the Mountains to the World.” The event aimed to promote gastronomy tourism and elevate Nan’s local food culture to international recognition. The ceremony was attended by heads of government and private sectors, as well as related network agencies.

This event received support from key organizations such as Chiang Mai University, Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Nan, Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, WWF Thailand, and other organisations collaborating to sustainably develop local cuisine and add value at the community economic level. The event focused on three main objectives:

  1. Promote and disseminate Nan’s local food culture to international recognition by showcasing the identity and value of local ingredients.
  2. Increase value and sustainability of local food ingredients through creative presentations and product displays.
  3. Support gastronomy tourism by linking culture, local cuisine, and organic agriculture in Nan Province.

Assistant Professor Dr. Suwit Chotinan from Chiang Mai University, representing the organisers, stated, “From Farm to Table is a platform that showcases community identity through local cuisine. Besides promoting gastronomy tourism, this event supports income generation and job security for local farmers. The ingredients used in this event are all sourced from communities in Nan Province, reflecting the quality and potential of the community in agriculture and food culture.”

Deputy Governor Wajiraporn Amatayakul added, “This event is a collaboration among various sectors, including government agencies, private sectors, and international organisations, to elevate the potential of Nan’s local food culture to international recognition. Today’s event not only reflects the community’s identity through local ingredients but also promotes the grassroots economy and creates true sustainability for the community.”

The From Farm to Table event serves as a learning and cultural exchange platform in the culinary field and is a significant stage in connecting the community economy with creative tourism. It raises awareness of sustainable development and instills pride in local culture among the people of Nan Province and tourists worldwide.
