Project Title: Translation for WWF Thailand’s ” SCP Business Methodological Tools” eBooks from English into Thai
Background
The IKI SCP Thailand Phase II project is dedicated to supporting businesses in the food value chain by helping them integrate Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) principles into their operations. As part of this effort, the project has developed a set of tools/guidelines targeting 3 key environmental issues in our food system.
1. Food loss and waste
2. Single use plastics
3. Transportation.
WWF Thailand completed these guidelines in English with the help of a consultant who partook in a comprehensive literature review, and the help of a graphics design company in June of 2025.
Objective of the assignment/Scope of work
The selected Company/vendor/individual will be tasked with translating the 3 tools/guidelines from English into Thai, ensuring that the translated text is correct, coherent, and comprehensible throughout, while accounting for important context that may be needed. This includes using the appropriate terminology and technical language. Moreover, once translated the text will need to be converted into a predetermined eBook format. Therefore, the scope of this assignment would be comprised of 6 main tasks:
1. Translation of the 3 methodological tools from English into Thai
2. Editing the text to ensure accuracy and correct grammar
3. Calibration/validation of the translated text to ensure comprehension and usability in real world contexts.
4. Indicate which parts of the translated text corresponds to which parts of the original tools/guidelines. (e.g., using side-by-side formatting, ID tagging, or comments)
5. Coordinate layout and formatting in line with the eBook design template provided by WWF, if required
6. Participate in the final calibration of the formatted eBooks after the translated text has been placed into the eBook layout by the design vendor. The translator will be required to conduct a final review of the formatted version (PDF or design file) to
ensure that the content is still accurate, clearly presented, and contextually appropriate in its final visual form. Minor revisions may be requested at this stage.
Rationale
As the project is based in Thailand and aims to assist Thai companies integrating SCP principles, it is vital that these tools originally developed in English – are translated into Thai to improve accessibility and comprehension for employees of Thai companies. This is based on feedback the project received from those working within the Thai food sector stakeholders during tool development workshops.
Timeline
The official timeline of this assignment will be developed in collaboration with the selected company/vendor/individual to align with the overall project schedule. However, it is expected that the completed formatted Thai tools will be delivered by 15 October 2025.
Key milestones
1. Kick-off meeting and initial timeline development along with clarification of all details (to be scheduled upon contract signing)
2. Catch-up meetings as necessary
3. Submission of translated text by tool
4. Feedback and revision period
5. Submission of finalized translation
6. Final calibration of formatted eBooks and revision based on feedback
Qualifications
1. Experience – proven track record for translating of long form texts (eBooks/books, guidelines, manuals etc.) Also proven track record of editing and calibration of translated texts
2. Sector knowledge – familiarity with sustainability, environmental, or SCP-related terminology is preferred
3. Collaboration – ability to work closely with a project team and incorporate feedback from diverse stakeholders.
4. Flexibility – capacity to manage timelines effectively and handle revisions as needed (at least 2 rounds of revisions expected)
Application requirements

5. Proposed timeline & budget for the assignment.
Additional Information
A copy of the 3 eBooks will be provided upon request to help with quotation and timeline planning.

Tool 2 (single use plastics) has an approximate word count of 8600 words and is 55 pages long
Tool 3 (transportation) has an approximate word count of 10,600 words and is 60 pages long.
Delivery in a rolling format (e.g., Tool 1 submitted first, followed by Tool 2 and Tool 3) is acceptable and encouraged for efficient feedback integration.
