Pre-zero Dugong

Thailand faces significant challenges with plastic pollution, which impacts both marine life and ecosystems. Each year, over 300 endangered marine animals, including dugongs, die due to plastic waste consumption and entanglement. Rapidly increasing plastic production, especially single-use plastics, exacerbates this issue. The tragic death of the baby dugong Mariam in 2019 highlighted the urgency of addressing plastic pollution. The PreZero Dugong project focuses on developing strategic actions and recommendations to significantly reduce plastic waste leakage into the ocean, thereby supporting dugong conservation and improving waste management.
