Thailand faces significant challenges with plastic pollution, which impacts both marine life and ecosystems. Each year, over 300 endangered marine animals, including dugongs, die due to plastic waste consumption and entanglement. Rapidly increasing plastic production, especially single-use plastics, exacerbates this issue.
WWF Thailand makes strides in addressing these threats through innovative and community-driven conservation programmes to protect the country’s vulnerable marine ecosystems and ensure the long-term survival of marine species.
