Local Coordinator (responsible for liaising with the national parks of Lan Sang and Doi Soi Malai–Mai Klay Pen Hin) Based in Ban Tak District, Tak Province

Background

WWF, the world’s leading conservation organization, has been protecting nature for over 50 years. Operating in more than 100 countries, WWF combines scientific research with both global and local action to develop innovative solutions that benefit both people and nature. In Thailand, WWF has been active since 1983 and officially established its country office in 1995.

The Forest Forward is one of the key forest and landscape conservation projects under the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). One of the target forest landscapes is the Mae Ping-Omkoi Corridor in Tak Province, Thailand, with the overarching goal of promoting sustainable forest management while improving the well-being of local communities.

The project focuses on protecting and restoring degraded forest landscapes through enhancing Projected Areas’ management, forest reforestation, ecosystem rehabilitation, and community-led conservation efforts. At the same time, it supports the development of sustainable livelihoods for local people particularly those living in forest-dependent communities by integrating economic opportunities with environmental protection.

Key components of the project include capacity building, strengthening community-based organizations, promoting agroforestry practices, and supporting access to markets for sustainable products. Collaboration with local stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society, and community leaders, is central to the success of the initiative. Ultimately, The Forest Forward aims to create a balance between conservation and community development, ensuring that forest resources are preserved for future generations while enhancing the quality of life for those who depend on them today.
