Consultancy Assignment : Tree planting, aftercare and monitoring services

1. Background of consultancy assignment

Even though forest restoration has been implemented for many years, techniques and species selection is often inadequate to site specific needs. Proper restoration techniques are fundamental for ecosystem rehabilitation, to improve or enhance forest conditions, and to restore ecosystem services for supporting wildlife. Tree planting activity is an intensive task that often is implemented in very remote areas and requires large labour capacities. Since the protected area office do not have such capabilities, it is necessary to work with a managing group that could organize activities and labour in loco.

2. Objective of the consultancy

The consultant will organize tree planting activities and matching labour requirements, acquire appropriate tree species and quantities to be able to restore agreed areas. The total seedlings requirements for the planting operation will need the acquisition of about 27,000 trees of mixed native/indigenous species. The consultant will also undertake aftercare activities such as fertilizing and weeding, as suggested in the  outputs.

3. Scope of work/ Major responsibility

The consultant will conduct all activities in coordination with WWF Thailand on:

3.1 To carry out land preparation according to specific requirements

3.2 To carry out tree planting with selected tree species.

3.3 To Carry out tree aftercare according to work plan schedules

3.4 To manage labour requirements for the ongoing activities

3.5 To achieve all the activities within determined time frames

7. Payment terms

The total payment will be divided into three equal installments, with one-third of the total amount to be disbursed at the beginning of each month—September, October, and November.
