Background

In 2024, WWF Thailand under Forest Program has initiated the ” Protecting and Connecting Thailand’s Forest Landscapes” in the Lower Songkhram River Basin, Nakhon Phanom Province,” to support the National Biodiversity Action Plan (2023-2027) and link it to international goals for biodiversity conservation through community forest management, covering the Seasonal Flooded Forest Ecosystem, Riparian Forest, and Terrestrial Forest. This includes supporting fisheries and aquatic ecosystems improvement through aquatic animal sanctuaries. Furthermore, Thailand supports the implementation of OECMs (External Protected Areas) to achieve 30% of the land and marine area (30×30) by 2027, by the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework under the Convention on Biological Diversity. Thailand became the 188th party on January 29, 2004.
WWF Thailand has supported biodiversity conservation and forest landscape restoration efforts in the Lower Songkhram River Basin, Nakhon Phanom Province by
1. Support the enhancement of forest resource management to conserve biodiversity in forest ecosystem corridors, encompassing Community Forests (CFs), flooded forests, riparian forests, and terrestrial forests, in accordance with the Community Forest Act B.E. 2562 (2019) and the Royal Decree on the Establishment of Community Forests in Other Government Areas B.E. 2567 (2024), as well as forest restoration with local community participation.
2. Support the restoration of biodiversity of fish and aquatic animals and the management of fisheries resources under the implementation of Fish Conservation Zones (FCZs).
3. Support local community participation and the integration of provincial and local government agencies to drive implementation of Thailand’s National Biodiversity Action Plan (NBSAP).
4. Support community participation and capacity development in conservation work, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and creating sustainable livelihood options for communities.
Target Implementation Areas
1. Target Local Community in the area of Si Songkram District and Tha Uthen District, Nakhon Phanom Province total 50 villages
Scope of work
1. Carry out activities in accordance with project work plans related to community forest management, forest landscape restoration, fish conservation zones, and livelihood improvement in collaboration with local community leaders, committees, occupational groups, and community-based organizations.
2. Coordinate with target communities, government agencies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to support the implementation of project activities.
3. Prepare equipment, documents, and provide logistical support for meetings, training sessions, community forums, and field activities under the project.
4. Conduct field monitoring activities, collect data, record photographs and GPS coordinates, and develop basic databases for project monitoring and reporting purposes.
5. Support the implementation of natural resource restoration activities, including tree planting, community forest management, fish conservation zone management, and wetland ecosystem conservation activities.
6. Support livelihood promotion and community development activities aimed at improving the quality of life of target communities.
7. Record and summarize meeting minutes, prepare field activity reports, and compile monthly progress reports.
8. Support the development of communication materials, public relations content, and dissemination of project information at the local level.
9. Be able to work in remote field areas and perform duties outside normal working hours or on holidays when required by project activities.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator or Project Manager.
Key Qualifications
1. Interest in the environment and the conservation of forest resources, wetlands, and the environment.
2. Able to work collaboratively with local communities, community leaders, conservation area committees, CBOs, CSO, income groups, users’ group, Respect human dignity, local wisdom, and knowledge.
3. Team player with flexibility in work schedules and respect for command hierarchy
4. Willingness to learn and develop skills through scientific-based training
5. Minimum age of 20 years
6. Possession of at least a diploma or equivalent educational qualification
7. Ability to drive and possession of a valid driving license
Terms of Employment
· The employee is required to submit a monthly report and invoice to the WWF project supervisor for approval to process monthly payment.
· Compensation does not include travel costs (e.g., fuel during field missions)
· Employee performance will be evaluated regularly to determine the continuation of employment.
Validity
1 August 2026 – 30 June 2027 ( 11 months )
